FAQ

How does CJP publish its books?
CUNY Journalism Press oversees all editorial operations, and our books are produced, printed, marketed and distributed through our partner OR Books, an independent publishing house in New York.

What devices can the e-book version of the book be read on?
All our books can be read on most popular reading devices, including iPad, Kindle, Nook, and Sony Reader. Our e-books are DRM-free, and shipped in multiple formats, including PDF.

How can I submit a book or book idea to CJP?
We welcome any and all ideas for new books about journalists and journalism. We’ll also consider reprints or new editions – paperbacks, e-books – of previously published books. Email a proposal to press@journalism.cuny.edu.

Do I need an agent to submit my proposal?
No. We welcome proposals from agents, but we’re also happy to hear from authors directly.

Here are more FAQs about ordering books:

Are CJP books available worldwide?
Yes. We print our books in both the US and the UK and ship anywhere in the world, debiting your credit card for the dollar or pound price converted to your local currency at prevailing exchange rates.

How long does it take for a book to get to me?
We ship our books to you directly from our printers: single copies ship within two business days of receiving your order; larger orders may take a few days. In the US we offer priority mail, which takes 2-3 days, and media mail, which may take up to two weeks. You choose which option you prefer on the order form. In the UK and Europe the books are sent via Royal Mail, first class. If you need the book urgently, we can ship your order via UPS, which is faster though more expensive. Prices and estimated times of arrival are available upon request. Please write to us at orders@orbooks.com.

What if I don’t want to give my credit card number over the Internet?
Write us at info@orbooks.com and we’ll tell you where to send a check.

I’ve bought the book and now I don’t want it – can I return it for a refund?
Sorry, we don’t accept returns and we don’t give refunds on e-book sales.
